The events took place around 10:30 a.m. A few days after leaving the psychiatric hospital where he was interned, a 31-year-old from Brest attacked a 29-year-old Belgian tourist with a knife in the Brest Explorers Garden. Seriously injured, the latter was transported to hospital. Fortunately, His days are not in danger and he was able to leave the next day, according to the deputy public prosecutor of Brest, Emmanuel Phelippeau.
The attacker arrested
As for the suspect, he was arrested by police officers from the Brest police station, then reinterned“his state of mental health having been deemed incompatible with placement in police custody”, said the deputy prosecutor. According to Ouest-France, the man escaped from the psychiatric hospital on April 28.

The suspect, who had escaped from the Marchant hospital in Toulouse in which he was interned, was finally arrested. Traumatized after serving in Afghanistan, he decided to return to his native village in 2013. It was there that he attacked a 90-year-old man by breaking into his home. He killed him with an iron bar before tearing out his heart and tongue, which he then cooked and then ate.
