There will be people on the roads but also perhaps in the mountains on this sunny bridge weekend.

It’s already the last day of the week in France for those who bridge the gap. These Wednesday and Thursday will be public holidays. There will therefore be a lot of people on the roads for this long weekend, particularly to use the Mont-Blanc tunnel. The authorities are also calling for caution in the mountains for those who will enjoy the great outdoors and the expected return of the sun!

Heavy traffic towards Italy

In Haute-Savoie, as is often the case, the Mont-Blanc tunnel will be of particular concern for those going to Italy. Be careful, traffic is expected to be very busy from this late afternoon between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. then Thursday morning. Law enforcement will be mobilized on site and regulatory measures can be put in place if necessary. In the other direction from Italy, a large crowd is expected on Sunday afternoon.

A risk still high in the mountains

Be careful in the mountains during this long weekend of May 8 and Ascension Day. With the good weather forecast from Wednesday, state services in Haute-Savoie are calling for the greatest caution when going out into the mountains in the face of avalanche risks, particularly for hiking, mountaineering and ski touring, especially since the ski areas are now closed. At this time of year the risk of snow slides and serac falls remains high at altitude given the presence of a still unstable snow cover.
