The work involves the creation of a new 14,000 square meter hall, located opposite the current site of the company specializing in connectors for electrical connections. A new building, housing a new plastic injection workshop, which will generate hiring, assures Frédéric Rivaz, general manager of Wago contact SA for Switzerland. “We are not creating a new building to only put machines there. There will be humans in it, and a significant number of them,” comments the boss. Around a hundred positions should be created.

A possible alternative, for the company, would have been to completely relocate the operating site to a more suitable location, perhaps even another country. A solution that is not more profitable, according to Frédéric Rivaz. “Switzerland has a more flexible labor law than in other countries and we are competitive with our European neighbors. Furthermore, we were already present there (in Domdidier editor’s note) with local management. We therefore have less need for “engage layers of hierarchy,” he explains. The cost of the project amounts to 30 million francs, while Wago plans to start operating the new building in 2026.
