Béatrice Orès in Aurillac to “show that all Jews do not think the same way”

The Cantal Palestine Solidarité collective invites Béatrice Orès from the French Jewish Union for Peace, Friday May 10 in Aurillac, at 6:30 p.m.

“We thought it would be interesting to give the floor to a Jewish person, to show that not all Jews think the same way. » Paul Hermet, activist for the Movement against racism and for friendship between peoples, wants to deconstruct the amalgams “between anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism”. At the origin of the Cantal Palestine Solidarity collective with Françoise Martin, activist for the Human Rights League in Cantal, he does not want to impose any thought, but defends a ceasefire posture.

A debate to “talk about the dangers of Zionism”

The collective, which has been increasing its actions since the start of the conflict between Hamas and Israel, has continued to grow since its creation last January and the start of the movement in the fall. It now has around fifty members, in addition to certain representatives of the associative world and even political parties. “On November 28, we organized a debate at the Cristal around the film Yallah Gaza (documentary, 2023). 145 people came and some didn’t find a place…”

A collective for peace in Palestine created in Aurillac: “We refuse hatred wherever it comes from”

In March, the collective even organized a thematic day at Loupiote, with the screening of the film Les Citronniers (by Eran Riklis, 2008), and a Palestinian meal.

We are not here to stir up hatred, it is the opposite. We are campaigning for a political solution to finally arrive

For now, Paul Hermet and Françoise Martin are keen to avoid confusion. “It’s a complex subject, for a conflict which is also extremely complex,” adds Françoise Martin. On April 10, MP Alma Dufour gave her testimony. This time, the collective chose Béatrice Orès, member of the French Jewish Union for Peace, “to speak about the dangers of Zionism”. She will speak on Friday May 10, at 6:30 p.m., in room no. 1 of the Maison des associations, place de La Paix, in Aurillac.
