The gendarmerie and the national police brought down two thieves. They subtly stole bank cards on several markets in Morbihan July to October 2024.

Several cases of bank card thefts at the market

Wednesday October 2 2024, the police are carefully monitoring the market. An investigation began in July into thefts from the market. But also to La Trinité-sur-Mer, Carnac, La Trinité-Surzur and Sarzeau.

We have several facts about coastal markets. There are seven incidents of theft and use of bank cards. There are several incidents of theft at the Vannes market.

Two men are caught in the act of “violent theft” from a 76-year-old woman walking on crutches.

As always, they use the same procedure:

They follow elderly women to try to see the PIN of the bank card. After shadowing, they stole the card through a stampede.

Except that on October 2, the police were present. The police had a description of the individuals after investigative work with the gendarmerie. It is the Anti-Crime Brigade (BAC) which makes the arrest. They present false identity cards to officials.

Presented before the Vannes public prosecutor’s office

The two men of Romanian nationality deny the facts in police custody.

The two Romanians (35 and 50 years old) were presented before the Vannes public prosecutor’s office for immediate appearance on Friday October 4, 2024. They received thirty months in prison (for the repeat offender) and one year in prison including six months suspended. They were incarcerated following the hearing. One of the two is subject to an obligation to leave the territory (OQTF).
