The record for the longest baguette in the world broken this weekend just a stone’s throw from Paris!

This is news that makes us happy. This weekend, the town of Suresnes hosted an exceptional event: the Suresnes Baguette Show. A unique gathering, during which a dozen craftsmen got their hands dirty (literally) to break the record together baking the longest baguette in the world. And one thing is certain, they have shattered the record of our Mediterranean neighbors, with a piece of dough over 140 m long ! It will teach them to want to make something other than pizza dough…

A colossal job

To achieve this extraordinary feat, the 12 members of the Greater Paris bakers’ union (including 6 from Suresnes) worked hard for hours. The festivities started at 3 a.m.no respite for the brave, where it was necessary knead a monster ballcomposed of 90 kg of flour, 60 liters of water, 1.2 kg of salt and 1.2 kg of yeast, before shaping it and cooking it, most delicate step.

For that, the bakers struggled for more than 10 hours with a rolling tent oven, for brown in the most homogeneous way possible this massive tradition. But, as all work deserves wages, it is the prestige which this time rewarded our workerssince the juggernaut of 140.53 m was officially approved by Guinness World Records as being the longest wand in the world. Victory !

A day full of twists and turns

If, fortunately, the result is there, our champions nevertheless had a little scare during the day. While the first two thirds of the baguette were already perfectly cooked thanks to the oven designed especially for the event, a piece of a stick touched the ceiling of it. However, if, unfortunately, the bread were to break, no record! All’s well that ends well though, it came out of the cooking in one piece…

…before being conscientiously cut once the record has been declared. A first half was generously covered with spread, and shared with all the locals or tourists who came for the occasion. The second was distributed the same evening to people in need, as part of a marauding organized by the city. In any case, we only have one thing to say: congratulations to all. France is proud of you.
