Salins-les-Bains. La Grande Saline labeled “Tourism and Disability” | Weekly 39

La Grande Saline recently received the Tourism and Handicap Label for mental and hearing disabilities. This label marks a major step in Grande Saline’s commitment to accessibility. It is the culmination of three years of efforts aimed at expanding its offering to accommodate a larger number of visitors.

Facilities, services, specially trained guides

For people who are hard of hearing, a transmitter and receiver system is available, thus guaranteeing a smooth and enriching visit experience. For people with mental disabilities, FALC (Easy to Read and Understand) booklets are available at reception, offering adapted support to discover and understand the different facets of this historic site.

For visual and motor disabilities, several devices have been put in place: three relief maps and Braille for the visually impaired, printed canvases which act as obstacles and prevent the visually impaired from bumping into the low beams of the evaporation building. The visually impaired can also benefit from adapted visits.

As access to the underground is only possible via two staircases, a touch terminal has been set up for people unable to go down. It shows 360° images of the underground gallery as well as the Muyre well (well of the old Petite Saline, closed to the public).

This label is an invitation to discover this emblematic site from a new angle, where every visitor, whatever their disability, can fully enjoy its heritage and its history.
