To show their support for their colleagues killed during yesterday’s attack in Eure, penitentiary officers from the Sarreguemines remand center demonstrated this Wednesday, May 15 in the morning at the call of the CGT.

“As a first step, and before any other modality of action, the CGT Pénitentiaire Grand Est asks its colleagues from the PREJ and ELSP of the Grand Est, to no longer carry out any judicial extraction and to remain on base,” explains Alfred Sarek , CGT delegate.

The union adds: “The prison family is in mourning. We express our condolences to the bereaved families and provide our full support to the PREJ in Caen. »

“Is it necessary to take inmates out all the time? »

Thomas Junker, secretary of the union in Sarreguemines, asks himself the question: “Is it necessary to take detainees out all the time to take them to court when we can do videoconferences? » He adds: “The problem is that we can’t force them to do videotapes. For many, it’s a release.” This professional also regrets the establishment of prison security teams, the ESP, responsible for transfers, “for which we did not have more resources”.
