Major repair work will take place in Saint-Lambert this summer on rue du Poitou, as well as on part of avenue d’Alsace and boul. Simard. The latter will also be closed for the occasion between Victoria Avenue and Riverside Street.

Preliminary work will begin gradually during the month of May and major work will begin in June. They are scheduled to end in October.

The work concerns the repair of the sewer and aqueduct with the addition of a sidewalk for rue du Poitou, as well as for avenue d’Alsace between rue de Gascogne and the Préville school.

For boul. Simard, this involves the construction of sewer collector pipes, the repair of an aqueduct pipe and the geometric modification of the roadway between rue de Gascogne and rue du Poitou.

The City will take advantage of the closure of the road to carry out leveling and paving work between Rue du Poitou and Avenue Victoria with repairs to certain sections of sidewalk.

Only residents who are required to pass through the work zone to get to their homes will be able to travel on the boulevard, indicates the City.

The Bricon company will carry out the work. A contract worth nearly $6.5 million was awarded to it during the public meeting on April 15.

Access to school

The demolition work in Alsace and Poitou will begin before the end of classes and will prevent access to the Préville school via Avenue d’Alsace.

However, in its preliminary work, the City is planning the construction of a sidewalk on rue de Gascogne between avenues d’Alsace and Béarn and on avenue du Béarn between rue de Gascogne and the existing sidewalk near rue de Charente.

This new sidewalk then built will serve as a temporary drop-off point until the end of classes. Students will access the Préville school via the accessible pedestrian path on Avenue Béarn.
