Legacy of Wars, the guardians of memory

On May 8 at 9:00 p.m., Tim Girard, presenter of the Passion Patrimoine show on Moselle TV, sets off to discover the forts of the West of the Moselle through a 90-minute documentary. In Moselle, the war heritage is vast. Fort Wagner in Verny, the Saint-Quentin Fortified Group in the Metz region, the Fort-aux-Fresques in Hestroff and the Maginot casemates in Kanfen are revealed through the words of volunteers who strive to safeguard these elements of heritage military of Moselle.

79 years ago, on May 8, 1945, the world witnessed the victory of the Allies over Nazi Germany and the war in Europe ended. The Moselle is difficult to test. Whether by the battles of 40, the second annexation (which allowed the swastika to appear on heritage and administrative buildings), but also by the hard battles of liberation during the battle of Lorraine… The Moselle is marked in its history.

Moselle, a border territory, occupies a central place in this conflict. The military heritage which punctuates the department proves how, throughout its history, the lands which will become the Moselle in the aftermath of the French Revolution, have always been a territory as strategic as it is coveted.

Through a 90-minute special broadcast, Tim Girard, History and Heritage journalist, sets out to meet those who devote their free time to safeguarding the memory of the last 3 wars which marked the Moselle.
