Ndioum (Podor), May 6 (APS) – The Regional Project to Support Pastoralism in the Sahel (PRAPS) offered equipment kits to 42 young people in the Podor department (north), noted the APS.

“This activity is part of component 4 of PRAPS focused on improving the social and economic inclusion of women and young people,” explained Diarra Diakhaté, head of the project in Ndioum, during the delivery ceremony to the beneficiaries, equipment kits consisting of refrigerators but also hairdressing equipment, dyeing, electricity, among others.

The overall objective of this component is to “contribute significantly to the resilience of pastoral communities in the Sahel,” she said.

She indicated that to help communities be more resilient, “PRAPS Sen 2” chose to help young people and women, aged 18 to 40, by offering them professional training, in related professions and even in entrepreneurship. In this initiative, she noted, “an entrepreneurship consultant was recruited by the project to support these young people, throughout the duration of the PRAPS”.

According to Ms. Diakhate, “with these equipment kits offered, they will be operational upon their return.”

Abdoul Ahad Badiane, training focal point of the project, magnified this initiative consisting of “supporting pastoral households in their activities”.

The head of the departmental livestock service, Yoro Diaw, particularly insisted on monitoring the activities that the beneficiaries will carry out when they return home. “For its success, PRAPS, which is a project of the Ministry of Livestock, can count on the staff of the Podor departmental service, made up of twenty technical agents, veterinary heads at the level of pastoral units,” he said. assured.

The kit delivery ceremony comes after three-month training sessions for the young beneficiaries, in various professions (hairdressing, electricity, dyeing, agri-food, among others). The deputy sub-prefect of the Gamadji Saré district, Fary Ndao, presided over the presentation of the donation of equipment and training completion certificates.
