Haute-Garonne: after an act of vandalism, SNCF traffic severely disrupted to the south and west of Toulouse

Train users are having a difficult day in the south of Toulouse, where all rail traffic is paralyzed due to an act of vandalism, SNCF indicated on its social networks at 6:48 a.m. this Friday, October 4. “The diagnosis is in progress, but there is a suspicion of cable theft between the Matabiau and Saint-Agne stations,” indicates a spokesperson for SNCF Voyageurs Occitanie.

“Traffic is disrupted from Toulouse towards Auterive, Muret and Saint-Cyprien Arènes until the end of the day due to an act of vandalism. Removals and delays are to be expected on the Toulouse-Pau, Toulouse-Latour routes from Carol and Toulouse-Auch”, specifies the transport company.

Although traffic was interrupted at the very beginning of the morning, rail shuttles have since been set up, particularly between Auterive and Latour-de-Carol and Muret and Auterive. To reach Auch, Toulouse residents are invited to take the metro to Saint-Cyprien station to take the TER. People who had to take the train from Muret to Toulouse can come to the center of the Pink City thanks to the bus network.

Regarding Auterive, SNCF will deploy replacement buses gradually during the day.

A month ago, on September 4, significant disruptions to SNCF traffic had already occurred between Toulouse and Pau due to an act of vandalism. Cables had been stolen along the tracks between Muret and Boussens in Haute-Garonne.

The SNCF regularly suffers from cable theft. This was the case in mid-July between Saint-Sulpice and Lavaur in Tarn or last April north of Toulouse between Castelnau-d’Estrétefonds and Grisolles on the Toulouse-Brive line or even in January between Narbonne and Carcassonne.
