Ambush in Essonne: police officers injured in Grigny and Étampes

Forty kilometers separate the two municipalities. But the processes are the same: attract the police by starting one or more fires. On Saturday evening in Grigny and Étampes, police patrols were attacked, injuring certain officials in both cases, according to a police Source.

Around 9:30 p.m., emergency services were called to the Grande Borne district in Grigny following a vehicle fire on rue des Oiseaux. Arriving on site, the peacekeepers were subjected to mortar fire and stone throwing. They then used tear gas bombs to ward off the attackers. Two officials were slightly injured, but no arrests could be made at the time of the incident.

At the same time in Étampes, in the Croix-de-Vernailles district and in Guettard, it was for a container fire that the police were required. Arriving there, they were also attacked by several individuals. The latter threw several projectiles which injured two agents.

In this case, the police managed to arrest five young men, minors aged 17 and young adults. This Sunday evening, a judicial Source indicates that they were still in police custody before an upcoming presentation before the Évry-Courcouronnes public prosecutor’s office for adults and the juvenile judge for minors.

These acts of violence against police officers in Essonne are regularly denounced by unions, like Alliance which is calling for additional reinforcements in the department to “deal with this violence which has taken hold”.
