“There are 144 polluted catchments in the Oise”: this weekend, the associations are going to meet the residents

This is a first in its 48 years of existence. The grouping of Oise conservation organizations, more commonly called Roso, will be present simultaneously in six villages in the department this Saturday morning. For this diagonal on the theme of water, volunteers hope to meet as many citizens as possible to talk about the quality of tap water.

“There are 144 catchments polluted with pesticides in the Oise, out of 189 in total,” indicates Didier Malé, the volunteer president of Roso. Do people know about it? What do they think? We know that residents have less and less confidence in the quality of water; some have questions about their long-term health. We want to know what their perception is, and what their expectations are to regain confidence. »

A Roso stand, which brings together some 70 local environmental defense associations, will be present in the village squares of Crouy-en-Thelle, Bachivillers, Margny-sur-Matz, Gilocourt, Laversines and Saint-Paul, from 9 hours at 10:30 a.m. this Saturday. These meeting points will be manned by a member of the board of directors accompanied by a few volunteers.

“It also allows us to publicize our actions and perhaps recruit new people,” emphasizes Didier Malé. It is important for us to collect testimonies to advance the cause and encourage elected officials to take their responsibilities. »

Take a stand in the democratic debate

One of the latest actions of the collective of environmental defense associations concerns the project of the future logistics zone of Chambly – Belle-Église against which the Roso has positioned itself from 2021. This has led to it being sued for “abuse of freedom of expression” by the real estate developer Alsei who claimed 50,000 euros in damages. The Senlis court finally rendered its decision on July 23: the Parisian company was rejected all its requests.

“The court recalled that freedom of expression is enshrined in the declaration of Human Rights,” comments Didier Malé, also president of the member association, the Observateur Thellois, also targeted by the procedure. “We have the right to express ourselves before, during and after a project, it is part of the democratic debate. »

Suspended by prefectural decree in December 2022, although building permits had been issued by town halls, the project is still at a standstill. The Oise prefecture considers that there is a risk of an uncontrolled increase in road traffic, particularly on departmental road 1001. According to Didier Malé, “we are talking about 650 trucks per day announced by the developer”. The case will have to be decided by the administrative court of .
