SOCIETY / THE EHPAD Guil Écrins inaugurated its renovation and extension of Villa Montbrison on Tuesday. No more double rooms for residents, the place also offers a warm and friendly living and entertainment space

Friendlier, brighter, more welcoming and above all more comfortable: the Guil Écrins EHPAD in L’Argentière la Bessée has a new face. For two years, work took place, to the tune of 2.9 million euros, to rehabilitate Villa Montbrison but above all to carry out an extension. The premises were inaugurated this Tuesday.

Aging well, a social issue

Aging is a social issue, but above all “aging well”. And at Argentière la Bessée, we understood it. It was not easy to carry out a rehabilitation in a building, while it still continued to accommodate its 35 residents. Companies have had to adapt to best protect residents who are often fragile and disoriented.

“Residents did not change rooms during the work. The building was built right next to it. As soon as the extension could be inhabited, the residents left their rooms to move into these new premises, which made it possible to eliminate the double rooms », Explains Antoine Ollagnier, the deputy director of the establishment.

A bad thing for the better in the future, since now the retirement home offers a renovated, adapted and, above all, more comfortable living space. “ There were two main phases. The first which consisted of the construction of the extension which would include a large collective living space and upstairs, nine individual bedrooms.

“They are not uprooted and can continue to have their lifestyle,” Alain Sanchez, mayor of L’Argentière la Bessée

Mayor Alain Sanchez will say that such a structure in his town is essential. Because keeping your elders close to home is priceless, “ It is a house that allows our elders to have a connection to the territory with their families nearby.”

Another project which is starting to bear fruit in Argentiérois but also Guillestrois: the CRT, the territorial resource center for elderly people. This support, provided by the EHPAD, makes it possible to support elderly people losing their autonomy so that they stay in their home as long as possible.
