Have the authorities banned the creation of the committee to support the “Kabyle people”?

The announcement of the creation of the “Action Group in Support of the Kabyle People”, which was planned for May 2 in Agadir, did not take place. In statements to Yabiladi, Abdellah El Feryadi, member of the organizing committee, wanted to provide details on this subject.

“The Agadir authorities did not prohibit our meeting. We consider that the spread of falsehood regarding a supposed ban is irresponsible behavior,” he said. “The postponement of our activity is essentially due to the refusal of the central leadership of the Popular Movement (MP) to authorize the holding of our meeting at the headquarters of its party in Agadir.”

El Feryadi stressed that the “Action Group in Support of the Kabyle People” is made up of “human rights activists. No official party is represented there. On the Kabyle question, we largely share the official position expressed by the kingdom’s permanent representative to the United Nations. Indeed, Ambassador Omar Hilale had defended “the right of the Kabyle people to self-determination” from the UN platform.

As a reminder, the Agadir authorities did not prohibit the meeting, on April 20 in a hotel, concluded by the creation of the “Moroccan Committee for the support of the independence of the State of Kabylia”, had confided to Yabiladi Boubeker Ounghir, one of the organizers.
