It’s been 17 years since autumn arrived, a strange traffic jam formed on the roads of the former Nationale 7. A procession as a jump in time, formed by these cars which at the time, crowded on the “holiday route”, head for the sun in the south of France!

Past o Mobileassociation chaired by Pascal Martin-Lavigne, brings back to life with as much passion this moment which marked generations, for a day full of nostalgia. And with the strong comeback of vintagethe event has never seemed so trendy!

“At the time, I was president of Vitrines de Nemours,” remembers the second-hand dealer from rue de Paris. We noticed that the entrance to Nemours lacked entertainment, everything stopped at Quai Victor Hugo. We therefore decided to launch the Bouchon de Nemours ».

A genius idea, even if it was necessary to be particularly persuasive at the time to accept the idea that a new demonstration would deliberately disrupt traffic! “ The goal is to reproduce the famous departures on vacation before 1975when there was no highway, continues Pascal. “It’s an opportunity to pay homage to old cars.”

It is an event that requires a lot of investment and preparation

On Sunday, beware of the traffic jam, which will form between Bourron-Marlotte and Nemours, for a good cause… and in a festive atmosphere. We are waiting this year no less than 220 vehicles, cars and motorcycles, but also four trucks from Holland.

The procession will set off from Bourron-Marlotte, for a parade in town at 10 a.m., as well as from Faÿ-lès-Nemours, at a maximum speed of 30 km/h, to head towards Nemours, via the RD607. “ The goal is really to create a bouchon. Bicycles can join us, we will also have Parisian buses for people who want to live the experience.”

All these little people will meet in Nemours (Seine-et-Marne) on the Champ-de-Mars, where the festivities will take place throughout the afternoon, with a rich program: a producer village, a security center, entertainment for children, and of course, the possibility of admiring all the vehicles, taking a photo with the participants, often in period costume, or even voting for the elegance competition.

The association, which devotes itself almost entirely to the organization of the Bouchon de Nemours, relies as usual on its volunteers, but also on the many partner merchants, to ensure that the celebration is beautiful.

And if the passion is still there, Pascal believes that this will be one of his last editions: “ It is an event that requires a lot of preparation and investment. With age, it gets more and more difficult.”

He still has a few years left to hand over, and ensure that his beloved traffic jam slows down traffic on the first Sunday in October for a long time to come!

The program

– Bourron-Marlotte from 8:15 a.m.: vehicles at the Place des Fêtes, parade in the streets at 10 a.m. before departure to Nemours

– Faÿ-lès-Nemours from 8:30 a.m.: vehicles at the football field, departure at 9:30 a.m. for a stroll in the region before arriving in Nemours

– Nemours: from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., build-up of the traffic jam from the station, then rue de Paris, to the Champ-de-Mars (period or holiday attire recommended). Aperitif and meal on the Champ-de-Mars at 12:30 p.m. In the afternoon: Parisian bus rides, exhibition, competition of elegance, trophy presentation at 5 p.m., numerous activities (repeat your code, producers’ village, children’s entertainment, music).
