If you are a lover of good deals, music, or literature, get ready: the libraries of are preparing to liquidate their stocks at a ridiculous price! On November 6 and 7, the Gironde departmental library is organizing a major public sale in the lobby of the Gironde building, in . Thousands of books, comics, and CDs will be offered for just €1! And this is just the beginning of a weeding marathon throughout the department until the beginning of December.

This is a process implemented by libraries, in which they remove books to make room for new releases. These books and CDsoften in excellent conditionthen find a second life in the hands of new readers. It is a practice inspired by American libraries, allowing new acquisitions to be renewed and made more visible. The ideal opportunity to discover hidden treasures or to do lots of good reads at bargain prices.

On November 6 and 7, head to the Gironde building (Cours du Maréchal Juin) for a bargain hunt. On site, you will find nearly 10,000 works of all genres: novels, documentaries, comics, children’s albums, and even CDs! Enough to satisfy fans from all walks of life. Admission is free and open to all, so come early to take advantage of the best finds. The sale will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday and until 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The proceeds from this sale will then be used to purchase new documents or will be donated to an association..

If you are not available for the Bordeaux sale, don’t panic. The “weeding” marathon continues until December 2 in 18 partner libraries. Establishments throughout the department will also offer you books and CDs at reduced prices, with some items sold from €0.50 ! Here are some dates not to be missed:

  • Pujols-sur-Dordogne : October 5
  • Brach : October 6
  • Podensac : November 6 and 8
  • Le Haillan : November 22 and 23
  • Gujan-Mestras : November 29 to December 2

You will be able to hunt for fiction, documentaries, children’s albums, and much more, depending on your interests. This is a great opportunity to support libraries while enriching your own collection.

Beyond the economic aspect, this type of sale also has an ecological impact. Rather than throwing away documents removed from the shelves, libraries give them a second life. By participating in these events, you contribute to the reuse of existing objects while rediscovering works that are sometimes forgotten.
