A fire ravaged the municipal workshops in the town of Beaucroissant, in Isère. No injuries were reported, but the 500 m² building housing municipal machinery was completely destroyed by the flames.

A fire broke out this Wednesday, October 2 in the morning, rue Louis-Durand in the municipal workshops of Beaucroissant, in Isère. The firefighters were alerted around 9:30 a.m. When they arrived on scene, a large part of the building was engulfed in flames.

Inside, construction equipment, vehicles, backhoe loaders, traffic signs, but also gas bottles. More than ten people had to be evacuated, including town hall staff and municipal agents. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The firefighters’ action consisted of preventing the flames from spreading to neighboring buildings and in particular to the town hall, adjacent to the burning workshops. “Thanks to the action of the firefighters, the municipal council room which serves as a wedding hall was not affected by the flames. They defended this building well”tells us, relieved, Antoine Reboul, the mayor of the town.

In fact, very quickly, the fire was contained by the firefighters. Only one building, the municipal workshops, with a surface area of ​​almost 500 m² was completely destroyed by the flames. “In the immediate future, we will have to see the extent of the disaster, but the fire has ravaged the entire building. It will have to be completely rebuilt,” adds the mayor of the town.

The councilor also fears for the big spring agricultural fair which is to take place in six months. All the material used for its organization was stored in the warehouse. For the moment, the origin of the fire is unknown. An investigation is underway to determine the origin of this fire.
