The construction site of the future inter-district road of Marmande (long called small ring road) is progressing at a steady pace, after being delayed for a few days due to bad weather. The opening of this new road is planned for this summer, probably in August.

THE construction site started on February 5, 2024, and is expected to last eight months.

The future inter-district road, long 800m, will connect avenue Georges-Pompidou to rue Sigalas and avenue Hessel. “It will make traffic flow more smoothly and relieve congestion on Boulevard de la Liberté,” explains the mayor of Marmande, Joël Hocquelet.

Arranged with three new illuminated roundaboutsit will cut off the streets of Docteur Neau, Bienvenue-Vu and Lagassat.

The project represents an investment of 1.8 million euros, co-financed by Val de Garonne Agglomération and the town of Marmande. It consists of two distinct phases.

Phase 1

From the Super U roundabout (route de Miramont) to rue de Bienvenue-Vu.

There, the first earthworks made it possible to design the road. They will resume later, after complete drying of this area which is still damp after the bad weather in March.

The roundabout on Avenue du Docteur Neau has been completed. The avenue reopened on April 18 (instead of April 2, the date initially planned, again due to bad weather in March).

Phase 2

From Soon-Vu Street to Sigalas Street.

Earthworks began on April 8, 2024. Rue de Lagassat is closed to traffic until June 28 maximum. Interventions on the impasse Juste-Vu (until June 28 maximum) are carried out by half-road, with permanent access for local residents. Finally, the earthworks of the two rainwater collection basins were to begin at the end of April.

Cycle path and pedestrian path

The development of these two routes linked to soft mobility is being done in parallel with the creation of the main road. ” This cycle path will be the first carried out within the framework of the Agglomeration Bicycle Scheme” explains the president of Val de Garonne Agglomération, Jacques Bilirit.

This Scheme appears in the Multi-Annual Investment Plan 2024-2030, with a total amount of more than 6 million euros.

With the Inter-district Way, the next cycle path developments will concern the connection between the two greenways, as well as the station/Germillac connection in Tonneins.
