The young Monegasque talents competed last week in the José-Gaydu Memorial U16 International Football Tournament in Guadeloupe. Chaihane Badoro was notably voted best player of the competition.

Ajax Amsterdam, Fluminense and even Inter Miami: lots of people came together to try to succeed Stade Rennais FC, defending champion of the Guadeloupe José-Gaydu Memorial U16 International Tournament.

Organized from 1er on May 4 by the Departmental Council of Guadeloupe, the competition finally ended with a victory for Olympique Lyonnais, who won after their final victory against the Americans Inter Miami (1-0) .

The Monegasques, sixth at the end of the tournament, however did well. Ruddy Ebondo’s men notably performed during the group phase, during which they successively dominated two local selections then the team from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Chaihane Badoro shines

Opposed in the quarter-final to the Brazilian Fluminense, the Red and White only gave in on penalties after a match without any goals scored (0-0, 4 tab to 5). For their final match on Guadeloupean soil, the Monegasques finally gave in against Ajax (0-1).

Best defense of the tournament, with only one goal conceded in five matches, they can however be satisfied with the excellent tournament of Chaihane Badoro, voted best player of the tournament. Confirmation of the talent of the native of Marseille, author of 23 matches with the National U17s, who are playing this Sunday in a final for the playoffs against Cavigal de Nice.

The Monegasques came very close to a double of individual prizes since Kenley Milien, the goalkeeper from Montreuil, was in the race to be elected best goalkeeper of the tournament. It was ultimately Axel Barreau, the OL goalkeeper, who won the distinction.
