NL: the Eagles win in Friborg

Two Finnish goals in the final third and Geneva has a second success in a row. Against the Zealanders, the Hartikainen-Manninen-Granlund triplet sparked. In Fribourg, the three men once again made the difference. Hartikainen first equalized (2-2) in the 46th minute on a power play. And in the 54th minute, it was Granlund who was able to place the Garnet in an ideal position.

Mayer solide

Without Sami Vatanen, affected against Bienne and who should be back for the weekend’s matches, Jan Cadieux’s players were able to keep their backs against an excellent Robert Mayer, once again.

If during the first third, Friborg had more shots on goal than Geneva (14-6), the Eagles had more quality chances. There was notably this action in the 14th when Yannick Rathgeb slipped alone into the defense zone with the puck and offered the Genevans a golden opportunity. Luckily for the Dragons, Spacek found the post with the cage empty.

Only the Friborgs paid for their defensive generosity in the 19th. Luca Hischier caught the entire opposing defense before serving Richard on a plate.

Freiburg led

In the middle third and despite two power plays to one in favor of the Dragons, it was the Genevans who sent more pucks at the opposing goalkeeper. But as usual, shooting is not scoring and it was Pat Emond’s men who turned the tide. First of all thanks to Sörensen in a power play in the 30th, then by Wallmark at the very end of the period on a deviation that the referees went to review on video. The Genevans had reason to be frustrated since Jooris hit the post in the 34th.

But Freiburg ended up paying for their inability to take advantage of their opportunities and also for not being consistent enough. Geneva, for example, knew how to exploit the defensive wanderings of the Friborg fourth line. This success allows Geneva to return to the level of Friborg with 8 points. But the Eagles have played two fewer matches.
