The Child with the Hoop has once again been mistreated. It is almost a classic for this bronze statue installed in the Museum Park in La Chaux-de-Fonds. Made in 1935, it was offered to the City by its creator, André Huguenin-Dumittan.

The sculpture is regularly the subject of acts of vandalism. The last one dates back to the night of April 29 to 30. The City found her lying in the grass. The town planning department decided to temporarily remove it and put it in a safe place until the end of the park redevelopment work. These were approved by the General Council of the Watchmaking Metropolis at the end of August 2022. Elected officials had, on this occasion, discussed at length the advisability of closing the Museum Park during the night, once its renovation completed, to avoid these kinds of problems. The POP and the Center were of the opinion that it should be kept open. PS and Greens advocated a later night closing in summer and the PLR had followed the advice of the Municipal Council, i.e. doors closed in the evening. Unable to find common ground, the legislature finally decided to create a commission to discuss the subject. The result of his work is not known at this time. /comm-cwi
