This Thursday, May 2, 2024, the members of the municipal children’s council, accompanied by elected officials, went to the EHPAD Fabien Lanave du Port. The elders were able to interact with the young people, share their stories and their know-how. Discovery of the residents’ living space, cooking workshops, reading, poetry, lively meals, songs and music punctuated this intergenerational day. This intergenerational day, carried out within the framework of the “Secularism, School and Citizenship” commission aims to “promote contact and exchange between different generations, learn about citizenship and living together and develop social bonds. Thus, the elderly were able to escape from everyday life and feel less isolated,” underlines the city of Port.
A resident known as “the Marseillaise” also spoke during the ‘racontaz zistoir’ workshop about her childhood lived under the German occupation in Marseille during the Second World War.
