Courtepin: the police “came several times” to the arrested man

Seals are placed on the door of the apartment searched Monday in Courtepin, noted our colleagues from “20 Minuten”. Its tenant, aged 28, is suspected of being linked to the fires of several military vehicles during the night from Sunday to Monday, at the army logistics center in Grolley. Police found “several homemade incendiary devices” in the suspect’s home. Two buildings were evacuated and cordoned off until the evening.

A neighbor said the man had lived there for three years. “He was quiet and introverted. But the police came to his house several times,” he says. Rumors from the corridors suggest that the agents were looking for him because he had not reported for military service. Another neighbor says: “Most people barely knew him and often only saw him from afar.”

After the evacuation, this 35-year-old mother had to walk to pick up her two children from school. “I didn’t know how to explain to them what had just happened.” Despite everything, the neighbor says she is relieved that the police intervened: “Today I already feel safer.” Another resident remembers this day like no other: “The police knocked on my door and asked me to leave the apartment immediately. We were not allowed to take anything, not even valuables. The situation was serious and we had to move very quickly.”

The army does not provide any further information and asks to contact the Friborg cantonal police. The latter does not provide further details as the investigation is ongoing.
