This Tuesday, a 23-year-old man attacked several children with a knife in a nursery school in Zurich, Switzerland, leaving several injured.
A man was arrested after stabbing and stabbing three 5-year-old children as they went to daycare with a childminder in the Swiss city of Zurich on Tuesday, local police said.
“I heard children screaming”
One of the children was seriously injured in the attack which occurred shortly after noon in the Oerlikon district in the north of the city, according to a police statement. Police cordoned off the immediate area, images broadcast by local media showed.
“I heard children screaming, then many police officers arrived”testifies a person present on the scene to the Swiss television channel TeleZüri, relayed by Time.
Law enforcement did not provide further details about the weapon or a possible motive. The nursery employee who was with the children alerted the police, who were able to subdue the suspect, described in the press release as a 23-year-old Chinese man. Police said there was no longer any danger to the public.
“It is still much too early to say whether the attacker had a link with the crèche”declared the spokesperson for the municipal police, Judith Hödl, to local media, cited by the daily Daily Gazette.
