Ladaniva, a music group from Lille propelled to Eurovision. The international competition will see Jaklin Baghdasaryan and Louis Thomas on stage to represent Armenia this year. Their song Jake, echoing the nickname of the group’s singer Jaklin Baghdasaryan, was chosen to represent the country of stone. The song is from their self-titled debut album which was released in September 2023.

“This year everything came together well, so we’re happy to do it”

Not an easy selection, and among other groups by a local jury, within the country represented. “It wasn’t in the plans, but this year everything came together to make it happen”, says the Armenian singer. A non-new proposal for the Lille group, and accepted this year only with their song Jakewritten in Armenian.

A song full of meaning for the group

According to the singer, a message for all the little girls in the world: “love tradition but don’t let yourself be confined by it. She too often looks down on women.” A committed message for women, but also about self-acceptance. Louis Thomas, trumpeter and multi-instrumentalist in the duo, is French. Participating in this competition happened by chance. “Today I feel more and more familiar with the culture of the country.”Four years after the start of the project, and his visits to the country, he confides: “representing the colors of Armenia in an international competition is weird but it’s great.”
