On December 17, 2023, Pauletta Foppaoriginally from Amilly, near Montargis, in the Loiret, won the last title he was missing with the French women’s handball team: the title of world champion.

And yet, the 23-year-old is “still not satisfied”. With her teammates, the pivot will try to defend their Olympic title gleaned in 2021 in Tokyo during the next Olympic Games in Paris in 2024.

Win at home

After winning the 2018 European Women’s Handball Championship in France, Pauletta Foppa and the Bleues wish repeat at home. “It would be a plus to win the Olympic title at home, in front of our public and our families,” confides the player.

The Blues led by Olivier Krumbholz will have to face the Hungary for the first match of the tournament, the Thursday July 25, 2024 at 7 p.m.the day before the opening ceremony scheduled for July 26 on the Seine. “We don’t yet know if we will be able to participate in this ceremony. I hope we can because it looks great.”

Pauletta Foppa and her teammates will then face the Netherlands, Brazil, Angola and finally Spain in the group stages of the competition. These will take place at Arena Paris Sud 6. The final phases will take place on the side of the Pierre-Mauroy stadium from Lille.

Trained in Montargis

Pauletta Foppa started handball very early in USM Montargis. A phenomenon of precocity, it integrates the Women’s Hope Center of the Centre-Val de Loire Handball League located in Orléans, at the age of 13.

After playing up to the level National 1 with the Montargois club, she joined in 2017, the Fleury-les-Aubrais club for its last year at Pôle Espoir. At the same time, she participates in U17 European Championship with France finishing at the 4th place of the competition. She is elected best pivot of this Euro.

Departure for Brittany

In 2018, Pauletta Foppa leaves Loiret for Finistère in Brittany. She joined one of the best women’s teams in France : Brest Bretagne Handball. With this club, she will be able to know the EHF Women’s Champions League.

This departure from Brest leads to its first selection with the French team. “I didn’t expect at all to be selected so early in my career, because I didn’t play much. I thought it was a mistake,” she says.

Things moved quickly then with the title of European champion, Olympic title and world champion title. His eyes are now set on the Olympics in July.
