Zurich (awp) – The Swiss Stock Exchange recorded a clear acceleration in activity in September, with an increase in transactions across all asset classes. In total, volumes jumped 23.5% year-on-year to 98.4 billion Swiss francs and the number of transactions increased 18% to nearly 4 million.

The reigning class of the Swiss market, shares showed an increase in the number of transactions, of 16.8% to 3.7 million shares exchanged, as well as in value (+10.4% to 71 billion Swiss francs). , detailed the operator of the Swiss Stock Exchange SIX on Tuesday in a press release.

The bond segment recorded an increase of 1.6% to 32,323 securities traded, while their volume soared by 95.2% to 20.1 billion. Index funds (ETFs) jumped 51.7% to 196,951 securities traded for a total value of 6.7 billion (+50.6%).

Transactions in securitized derivative products grew by 9.9% to 32,496 exchanges, with a volume that was almost stable (+0.4%) at 606 million Swiss francs.

The Madrid BME Stock Exchange, which belongs to SIX, for its part saw its volumes contract by 8.6% compared to September 2023 to 34.1 billion euros. The number of transactions fell 0.9% to 2.1 million.
