Elected officials from the Canaux et Forêts en Gâtinais community of communes have validated a change to the statutes to allow the community to recruit two doctors.
Monday April 29, in Lorris, an extraordinary community council was held. It was a question for elected officials of modifying the statutes of the community of communes Canaux et Forêts en Gâtinais, to allow the installation of two doctors in Bellegarde and Ladon.
Valérie Martin, vice-president in charge of health, explains: “We have the opportunity to hire two doctors from the community of communes (one would do two and a half days a week in Ladon and the other one day a week or even two in Bellegarde). They want to be employed.”
The elected official adds: “We must modify our statutes, because within our skills, it was not planned that we could recruit doctors. This involves changing an article by adding ‘management and maintenance of community buildings ( multidisciplinary health center, Ladon medical office), recruitment and management of medical and paramedical staff (the community will have to hire a secretary to take care of the secretarial work and doctors’ appointments).”

September target for consultations
For the mayor of Châtillon-Coligny, Florent De Wilde, this is very good news for the Bellegardois, but he nevertheless questions the question of the cost: “We must be vigilant because the modification of the statutes is quite broad”, and to recall that “the operating budget of the community of communes is complicated. What will be the rest? I am not saying that we should not put resources into the question of health. Please note, we are taking charge of new skills, medical personnel,” assures the elected official.
“We have gone wide,” replied Valérie Martin, “because we do not want to deprive ourselves of certain opportunities. But our priority will be the recruitment of general practitioners. The consultations will cover the amount of the salary they will receive. What will remain is responsible, it is the secretariat”.

As for the two doctors, François Richard and Georges Loubert, they will not be with a view to performance, but to care.
If the process continues, it is possible that the two doctors could start in September 2024, as the community wishes.
