Among the 700 Lyon supporters present at the Stadium this Sunday, September 29, one chose to break the silence. He denounces racist chats and even Nazi salutes during the meeting.
This is unfortunately not the first time that such acts have been deplored by a section of Rhone supporters. This time, it was at the Toulouse Stadium, during Lyon’s victory against the Violets (1-2), that these unacceptable acts took place. In any case, this is what a supporter, present in the visitor’s park, says, to Progress.

While remaining anonymous, he asserts that among the 700 visitors present in the park, some ultras chanted racist songs before launching a few Nazi salutes. “Part of the kop sang the Marseillaise several times,” explains this OL fan. “Each time, there were a certain number of them who concluded the anthem by shouting ‘France to the French’.”

Before continuing: “A little later, when the lower part spotted two North African supporters just above the parking lot, they were all brandishing the tricolor flag in their direction.” One of them even shouted “go to the mosque” adds another witness, who also reports misogynistic comments.

According to these same sources, Laurent Prud’homme, the general director of Olympique Lyonnais, would have heard of these reports. He reportedly apologized and promised collaboration with the authorities.
In December 2023, the police arrested three Lyon supporters, guilty of monkey cries and Nazi salutes at the Vélodrome stadium. Last May, a witness claimed that a man had violently torn off a woman’s veil during the broadcast of the Coupe de France final at Groupama Stadium in Lyon.
