If we want to discuss wokism, we must try to define it. In my essay, the professor of philosophy at the University of Neuchâtel Olivier Massin, who signed the preface, and I propose the following definition of this current born in the United States: it is an ideology which defends 1) that there are relations of oppression everywhere in society, 2) that these define individuals, and 3) that people who say they are oppressed have, through their experience, privileged access to these relations of oppression.

This definition has the advantage of not presenting wokism in pejorative or laudatory terms. And it turns out to be sufficient to describe the system of thought behind the actions that many of us describe as “wokes”.
