From 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., this Thursday, May 2, 2024, the Ateliers des Capucins came alive with the first edition of the Brest Urban Jam event.

Alexis, 4 years old, Timéo, 13 years old, and even Marine, 22 years old, shared the Machines place.

Experienced players and beginners met for initiations, free practice, a show and a competition around breakdancing and skateboarding.

And between dance and skateboarding, it wasn’t “two rooms, two atmospheres”. Already because, in the middle of stunts, the skaters could have been confused with hip-hop dancers. But above all because the young people did not hesitate to test everything.

“We had around a hundred participants,” says Baptiste, one of the organizers, a sports management student in Brest.

“We wanted to create a sporting event made by and for young people. It’s a good start, the goal is to make it last! », says his friend Melvin, who is one of the ten or so skaters registered for the competition.
