The federal government has reserved 800 additional seats on planes to allow Canadians to leave Lebanon, Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly announced Monday.

These seats will be available on flights leaving Lebanon over the next three days.
They are available to Canadians, permanent residents and their immediate families.
“We will continue to work with our international partners to facilitate flights from Lebanon,” said Mélanie Joly in a publication on the social network X.
The minister underlines that “the situation in Lebanon is becoming more and more dangerous and volatile.”
She also invites Canadian nationals to “leave now”.
“If you are offered a seat, take it now,” the post reads.
Ottawa had already announced, last Friday, that it had “already reserved places for [ses] nationals on the few commercial flights available.
Several airlines have announced in recent days that they are suspending their connections to Lebanon due to the situation.
The Israeli army announced on Monday that it had begun localized and targeted ground raids in the south of the country.
Israel is trying to target Hezbollah by carrying out airstrikes on the country.
On Sunday, a first strike hit the country’s capital, killing four people.
