If this fifth week of trial is marked by the absence of Dominique Pelicot, his ex-wife, Gisèle, can count on the help of women on the other side of the world.

It is a group of older women, from an Australian association (Older Womens Networks), who launched a call for donations with the aim of offering a gift to Gisèle Pelicot, in order to support Dominique’s victim. The extraordinary Mazan rape trial arouses interest from around the world, up to more than 17,000 kilometers away, reports Blue.

“We want her to feel the love we have for her around her neck”

If the facts of this case go beyond the unimaginable, the courage of Gisèle Pelicot has left its mark on the entire world. “When we saw that Gisèle had chosen to renounce her anonymity and expose these absolutely atrocious crimes to light, we said to ourselves, wow, she’s a champion”says Yumi Lee, president of the Australian Association for the Defense of Older Women.

It was then that the idea came to give a gift to Dominique Pelicot’s victim. The association wants to send a silk scarf, made by Aboriginal artists. This is why the group of women launched a call for donations to finance the purchase and sending of this scarf.

“We want, by wearing this scarf, that she feels around her neck the love we have for her and the expression of our solidarity”specifies Yumi Lee to our colleagues. After a certain duration its gift.

Since the Australians did not have Gisèle Pelicot’s address, one of the victim’s lawyers will receive it, note France Blue.

Dominique Pelicot absent

The Mazan rape trial began its fifth week of hearing on Monday with the continuation of the parade of Dominique Pelicot’s 50 co-defendants, excused for the day for medical reasons.

“He is unwell. He has to undergo a medical procedure this afternoon. I have excused him for the day. […] We will take stock of his state of health at the end of the day.”explained at the start of the hearing the president of the criminal court, Roger Arata.

Dominique Pelicot, 71, had already undergone a medical examination on Friday, a day on which no hearing had been scheduled. His lawyer, Me Béatrice Zavarro, indicated on Sunday that this examination “went well”then expecting his client to be present on Monday.
