Around 9:15 a.m., this Thursday, May 2, 2024, a person was hit by a train near Biot, between Nice and Antibes (Alpes-Maritimes), indicates the TER Sud PACA network on its social networks.
Firefighters intervened and traffic was heavily impacted on the SNCF network. Here’s what happened.
A woman hit by a train
A “personal accident” on the railway tracks occurred in the morning, after rush hour.
The victim, a woman whose age is unknown, was hit by a train, says the Alpes-Maritimes departmental fire and rescue service. She died.
Train traffic interrupted
The incident occurred near Biot station. Train traffic is interrupted between Antibes and Nice in both directions and should resume around 11:45 a.m., says the TER Sud network.
Many trains are delayed or canceled on the Côte d’Azur route. They are running more than an hour late, including TGV 6174 from Paris Gare de Lyon. TER 86033 to Ventimiglia is canceled.
