the essential
The Sidobre Leclerc Tournament takes place this Saturday, May 4 at the lower edge. Small players from all over the region are expected.

Like every year, the Sidobre Tournament will be one of the events not to be missed at the beginning of May. 27th edition for one of the biggest tournaments in Occitanie, which will bring together 1400 children! Many Castres Olympic players – Mathieu Babillot, Baptiste Cope, Baptiste Delaporte in particular – took part as children, and the little rugby players from all over the region and beyond will be keen to honor the history of this prestigious tournament.

Leclerc and Umbro as major partners

This year, many new products are appearing. The first, and not the least, concerns the very name of the tournament: we now speak of the Sidobre Leclerc Tournament. The sirens of naming? “Yes,” confirms the president of the CO Association, Yves Salvaire, with a smile. “Leclerc, our partner, has invested enormously in this edition!”

Another major partner: Umbro, the club’s equipment supplier. “Umbro gave us a budget for entertainment. So on Saturday we will have a band, a makeup workshop, inflatable games, signings with the professional players, and the presence of the speaker from the Pierre Fabre stadium to liven up this day!”

President Salvaire details the other new features: “We have created the Monique Passoni Trophy for this year. She was an educator, who died in 2020, who gave a lot to Castres Olympique. We will pay tribute to her in this way. And then, this year, we let’s lead a solidarity challenge with the Restos du coeur! Each club brings food, and the winner, who brings the greatest number, will win an inside day with the pro team!

Tribute to Ibrahim Diarra and Monique Passoni

We will also find the Ibrahim Diarra Trophy, launched last year, which rewards “the most valorous”. It is held by the Aire sur l’Adour team.

28 clubs will be represented on the Borde Basse grounds, in the U6, U8, U10 and U12 categories. The teams come mainly from the department, we will find the clubs which make up the 100% Region, but also from further afield. Thus, Castres will host Mantes la Jolie, Aurillac, Perpignan and the Spaniards of San Cugat, in the suburbs of Barcelona, a city where the little Castres played a tournament a few weeks ago.

President Yves Salvaire concludes: “All the winning teams in their category will win complete outfits. And in U12, the winner will win a nice surprise!”

Entertainment, refreshments and catering, everything is in place for this Sidobre Leclerc Tournament to take place in the best conditions.
