Large-scale anti-narcotics operation in Toulon, four suspects incarcerated

We know: the fight against drug trafficking has become the number 1 priority in the region: in Marseille (especially) and in Toulon. It is in this context that a major intervention took place in the Pontcarral district of Toulon to “dismantle the heads of a network”indicated the Toulon public prosecutor’s office.

The police took action via a letter rogatory issued by a Toulon investigating judge investigating acts of criminal conspiracy, money laundering and drug trafficking. Specialized officials from the Interdepartmental Directorate of the National Police (DIPN) intervened at dawn at the end of April in several homes in the neighborhood.

67,000 euros in cash recovered

Four suspects were apprehended and seizures were made: 1.2kg of very good quality cocaine and 2.3kg of cannabis resin. 67,000 euros in cash were recovered from the home of one of the suspects.

Placed in police custody then referred to the prosecution, the alleged leaders of this narcotics network were indicted and three of them were imprisoned. All deny the charges against them.

“Laundering via a company”

This “net” follows a year of investigations and the use of special investigative techniques making it possible to establish a precise organization with roles assigned to each individual: recruiter, reseller, lookout, nanny, etc. , a storage location for the goods had been found far from Toulon for greater discretion.

“Part of the income generated by this traffic is likely to have been laundered via a vehicle rental company in which one of the accused worked”, adds the prosecution. Investigations are continuing to precisely establish the responsibilities of each person in this very localized network.
