The smoke released was impressive. During the night of Wednesday May 1 to Thursday May 2, around 10:30 p.m., firefighters intervened on boat lights in the port of Saint-Laurent-du-Var, near Nice (Alpes-Maritimes).
In total, five of them were completely destroyed by the flames and two boats located near the fire were damaged. No casualties is to be deplored, confirm the firefighters.
Boats 10 to 15 meters long
It was 10:30 p.m. when a spectacular boat fire broke out in this busy port with its many restaurants, bars and nightlife. Initially, the fire affected four boats, 10 to 15 meters long. It was visible from afar since it generated “a strong clearance of smoke”.
The damage was significant: five boats were ultimately destroyed. But the flames spread to other ships. Two are also damaged, according to the assessment established by firefighters. They were 67 to be mobilizedsupported by 34 machines.
No victims were treated. “The operation continued for a good part of the night, ending a little after 3 a.m.,” said the firefighters during a final situation update.
