Workers demonstrate in the streets of Sherbrooke

1er May marks International Workers’ Day. For the occasion, demonstrators gathered at noon at Jacques-Cartier Park, in Sherbrooke, for a press conference.

Around thirty of them then paraded through the streets of Sherbrooke.

The demonstration was organized by Solidarité populaire Estrie, which brings together many organizations and unions in the region.

Solidarité populaire Estrie (SPE) would like to highlight the incredible resilience of workers who continue to support our society despite increasingly difficult living conditions.indicated the grouping in a press release.

As inflation continues to eat away at wages and the cost of living increases, it is increasingly difficult to live with dignity in Quebec. Workers work full time and have to go to food banks, have to work multiple jobs to get there. We are no longer capable. We’re reaching a breaking point and something has to happen.
