The Department has invested 700,000 euros in the new Sports Plain which offers 36,900 m² of facilities dedicated to sports, relaxation and leisure.
The Plaine des sports project in the city of Osny highlights several developments:
- a Pumptrack track (track with bumps and turns),
- a fitness and street workout space,
- a children’s play area.
A building was also built for the reception and changing rooms of the BMX club. This project includes the rehabilitation of the BMX track, labeled the 2024 Games Preparation Center, a label also granted to the Athletica high performance sports center which hosted the American delegation.
Among the other facilities, we find a sports association building, shared between the archery, pétanque and Lyon bowls associations, as well as the renovated archery field. The football field has also been transformed into two synthetic fields accessible to all: one reserved for team sports (football, handball, volleyball) and the other made up of 3×3 basketball fields. In line with an environmental approach, the buildings were greened and the lighting systems replaced by LEDs.
The municipality of Osny also took advantage of the rehabilitation of the cycle path on Chaussée Jules-César to facilitate access to sports infrastructures.
“The Games have passed, but the spirit of the Games remains. He will continue to shine on this plain, in every pedal stroke on this track, in every archery shot, in every bouncing ball. Sport is the bond, it’s life. And it is here, in Osny, that this life unfolds today. Osny, you are ready. Val d’Oise, you are on the move. Together, we will continue to grow this passion. “Faster, higher, stronger”, always, together » underlined Marie-Christine Cavecchi, President of the Department of Val d’Oise, during the inauguration which took place in the presence of elected officials from the Department and the mayor of the city.
As part of its Val d’Oise Territoire Fund, the Department has invested nearly 700 000 € in the renewal of the Plaine des sports.
