Murder of Philippine: Bruno Retailleau promises to “turn the table”
In confidences reported by The Sunday Journalthe Minister of the Interior returns to the murder of the student and promises to “do everything in his memory, even if it means shaking up the rules, overturning the table, so that it doesn’t happen again.”
If he does not deliver a calendar, Bruno Retailleau evokes a change in the “failing rules”, citing “ early releases, penal response, sentence reductions, length of detention, conditions of expulsion, non-suspensive appeal from prefects at the time of release in a CRA”.
The minister had already called on Wednesday for an evolution of “the legal arsenal” after the arrest in Switzerland of the murder suspect, a Moroccan national under an obligation to leave French territory (OQTF). The body of the 19-year-old young woman, a student at Paris-Dauphine University, was found buried not far from this campus in the Bois de Boulogne, in western Paris, during a search. She was buried on Friday.
Several political leaders, from the right and the left, have questioned “the criminal and administrative chain” in this case, ruling that the suspect should not have been released before obtaining the pass allowing his expulsion to Morocco.
