what is a “Fisha” account, implicated in the attack on Samara in Montpellier?

A month after the attack on young Samara as she left her college, the administrative investigation clears the establishment but points the finger at the “Fisha” accounts… a term from social networks which means “to display someone ” and make fun of it. What are these accounts and how to fight against them? Europe 1 takes stock.

On Instagram or Snapchat, “fisha” accounts – from verlan “poster” – abound. Created to mock, they can be generated by anyone and are accessible to everyone. Intimate videos without consent, mocking photomontages… The content is always malicious, says Lina, 16 years old. “A friend was harassed. Videos of her in the street and nudes were put on accounts and everyone insulted her under the publications,” denounces the teenager.

A wave of cyberharassment which can have repercussions in real life as for Samara, attacked outside her college a month ago, which made the front page of the press.

A loss of confidence

“There are some who are afraid to go to school because they don’t know who received or saw the photo. This sometimes leads to harassment, then there are school problems that arise. “There is a loss of confidence in humans. We have many people who are completely helpless in the face of these situations and who are clearly thinking about suicide, because, for them, it is the only way out,” worries Lisa Raynaud. , co-founder of the Stopfisha association.

His association supports dozens of victims every day. It offers listening sessions with volunteer psychologists but also legal assistance to know your rights and file a complaint. As a reminder, cyberharassment of a sexual nature is punishable by two years’ imprisonment and a fine of 30,000 euros.
