With Biarritz Olympique, there is always something happening… even in weeks without Pro D2. In its decision of Tuesday April 30, the Disciplinary and Regulations Committee of the National Rugby League (LNR) sanctioned the Basque club, following the match of the 27th day of the championship lost against FC Grenoble (19-46).

On April 19 at the Aguilera stadium, the BO was found responsible for “Disorders caused by players, managers and/or the public of a club or clubs present” and more particularly for “irruption of one or several unauthorized people in one of the areas reserved for the competition (playing enclosure, changing rooms or corridors giving access to these areas) without incident.

A fault punished with a fine of €3,000 accompanied by a suspended sentence for Biarritz Olympique.

A peccadillo, ultimately, in relation to the situation of the Biarritz club, whose buyers (around the Australian Shaun Hegarty) must convince the Rugby Regulatory Authority (A2R) of the solvency of the new owners, in order to restart the season next in Pro D2.

Two days before the end of the 2023-2024 season, the Rouge et Blanc du BO are 14th in the standings (53 points) and still need a victory, or perhaps a simple defensive bonus, to put themselves sheltered from the return of Montauban (15th, 46 pts) and Rouen (16th, 43 pts), fighting not to go down to the National.

FC Grenoble, for its part, will host Colomiers on Friday May 10 (7:30 p.m.) at the Stade des Alpes with the aim of consolidating its 4th place and its qualification for the final stages.
