Jimmy Gressier is not the type to hang around on the road so, on Saturday evening, at the finish of the 1000m in Milan, finishing “only” in 4th place, he showed a little pout, hoping for better. However, nothing to worry about, quite the contrary, especially since he was the victim of a somewhat rushed start and, above all, that he was running over a distance which is really not his.

At the finish, his time (2’18’87), even if he dreamed of 2’17, nevertheless constitutes a new personal best shattered by six seconds. A figure that he will put into perspective because he hadn’t raced there for a while. More concretely, it is the 4th French time since August 2022, only ahead of 800m specialists, Benjamin Robert (in 2022) and the duo Paul Anselmini-Flavien Szot who participated in the same Milan race as him.

His weekend continued in the stands of San Siro to celebrate Inter’s title of Italian champion, a special treat for this football fan before flying to Spain where he will compete in his first 1500m of the season, this Tuesday, in Huelva. For a new record?
