A van carrying jewelry was attacked this Tuesday morning in an industrial zone in Rillieux-la-Pape, in the metropolis of Lyon (Rhône).
The perpetrators fled and the Lyon public prosecutor’s office opened an investigation.
The amount of damage amounts to 560,000 euros.
It was around 8:30 a.m. when the robbery took place on rue des Mercières, in Rillieux-la-Pape, in the metropolis of Lyon (Rhône), this Tuesday, April 30. This is where an unmarked van carrying jewelry belonging to a jewelry store in this industrial zone was hit by two ram cars at the front and rear, a police Source told TF1info, confirming information from ActuLyon.
“Several individuals hit the van to remove the conveyor belts. They then robbed what the vehicle contained before fleeing,” specifies this Source. According to another police Source, the perpetrators, four in number, were hooded and armed with assault rifles. It is unknown whether these weapons were fake or not.
Vehicles set on fire
Before showing off aboard a third vehicle which picked them up, the criminals took care to set fire to the three vehicles (the targeted van and the two used for the attack) in order to erase any clues. . They were always wanted in the middle of the day.
Several images were taken from CCTV cameras in the area. They are currently in operation. The police also had to interview witnesses.
Contact, the Lyon public prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation into charges of armed theft by an organized gang, participation in a criminal association with a view to committing a crime, destruction by an organized gang.
