A 56-year-old engineer by training, the new Chairman Of the Management Board worked for 12 years at STX in Saint-Nazaire.

Appointed by decree of the President of the Republic dated April 19, 2024, Jean-Rémy Villageois officially took up his duties as Chairman of the Management Board of Nantes Saint-Nazaire Port this Monday, April 29, 2024. He intends to continue with the same dynamic the 2021-2026 strategic project initiated by his predecessor.
12 years of career at STX
Jean-Rémy Villageois graduated fromNational Higher School of Advanced Techniques of Paris, and began his engineering career in Houston for the oil drilling company Pride International. Of 2000 to 2012 on his return to France, he was hired as manager of major cruise ship construction contracts within STX (formerly Chantiers de l’Atlantique), then became responsible for the strategy of new markets. He notably participated in the construction of the Queen Mary 2 liner, commissioned in 2004.
Promote the decarbonization of the industrial port complex
After 12 years at STX, Jean-Rémy Villageois is flying to Martinique where he is named Chairman of the Management Board of the Grand Port Maritime. His managerial method “focused on the customer approach and change management” leads it in particular to straighten the financial trajectory, significantly increase results, while leading the Port on the path to energy transition, by initiating a strategy of resilience and adaptation to climate change “in island territory”. A success that he intends to use today at the head of Nantes Saint-Nazaire Port to promote the decarbonization of the industrial port complex. “I am joining Nantes Saint-Nazaire Port halfway through a strategic project 2021-2026 which bears fruit. I salute the teams who contribute to it every day and am happy to join them to continue the projects and projects, which are numerous and motivating. It is for me an honor to work for the sustainable development of this port and this territory” he said this Monday, April 29 in a press release.
