The Tangier Finance Commission prepares the municipality’s budget. Currently, she is looking into the question of revenue. Municipal services anticipate revenue of around 10 million dirhams from the hotel establishment housing the city’s casino, reports Al Akhbar. In 2023, the amount paid to the municipality is around 10.2 MDH. Based on the observation that the previous office led by PJD elected officials had avoided increasing the municipal levies on the proceeds of games at the casino, the municipality decided to take the plunge.

The urban municipality of Tangier is also counting on taxes relating to entertainment spaces, particularly nightclubs, to replenish its coffers. However, it cannot be ruled out that the lobby which defends the sector within the framework of an association exerts pressure on the decision-makers of the municipality.

Once developed by the competent committee, the draft budget is submitted to the members of the council for examination and approval during a plenary session, at the end of which the budget is validated by the competent authorities, it is reported.
