Four important party figures excluded as legislative elections approach

The Senegalese Democratic Party (PDS) is facing an internal crisis in the run-up to the legislative elections scheduled for November 17, 2024. In a press release published this Saturday, September 28, the party announces the exclusion of four important personalities: Doudou Wade, Tafsir Thioye, Pape Saer Gueye and Hawa Abdul Ba.
The PDS criticizes these former activists for “sessionist behavior” and accuses them of “high treason”.

“The PDS informs its activists and officials that Doudou Wade, Tafsir Thioye, Pape Saer Gueye Hawa Abdul Ba are no longer activists of the Senegalese Democratic Party,” announces a PDS press release, signed by its spokesperson Bachir Diawara.

The same source informs “that they were replaced following their de facto resignations noted and recorded by several federations of the Party who denounced their sessionist behavior, their high treason and collusion with the adversary aimed at deceiving the activists, in particular by demanding their candidacy files for the legislative elections in order to confiscate them, sow confusion in order to have their investiture rejected and invalidated.”

Moreover, the “PDS warns these resignations against any abusive use of its symbols, its colors, its images to deceive its valiant and faithful activists”.

The Senegalese Democratic Party warns that the “perpetrators of these fraudulent maneuvers are exposed to legal proceedings before the courts”.

The Party of Master Abdoulaye Wade recalls that Maguette Sy, National Secretary in charge of elections is the “one and only person authorized to receive all applications from PDS activists and officials for nomination for the legislative elections of November 17”.

In addition, Bachir Diawara underlines that Me Abdoulaye Wade, National Secretary General of the PDS, is the only one authorized to establish, after having examined all the candidacies, the final list of party candidates who will participate in the elections under the colors of the PDS, member of the Takku Wallu Senegal (TWS) coalition.
