Specialized in the acquisition of wind, swell and current data, the Akrocean company, based in Guérande (-Atlantique), has just won a valuable call for tenders allowing it to renew its contract with Meteo during 4 years.

wind farms

The public meteorological establishment was looking for a company capable of measure the wind and tides on offshore sites that will potentially host offshore wind farms.

“It is a great satisfaction for Akrocean to have been able to provide a response based on the feedback acquired during previous measurement campaigns. »

Maxime Bellorge, Director of Operations at Akracé.

The operations director adds: “Consolidate our presence on the French market constitutes necessary references for our deployment to export, notably thanks to the notoriety of Météo-France. »

Asian market

When it comes to exports, the Guérande company is starting to get to know it, with its eyes riveted in particular on the Asian market.

For 6 years, contracts have followed one another: Taiwan, South Korea, , New Zealand… With, at the heart of these won markets, customer confidence in Guérande technology and its flagship product: floating Lidar.

Autonomous buoy

An autonomous buoy manufactured by Geps Techno – another Guérande company – and which operates on renewable energies.

It is she who captures wind and tide measurements for a price ten times lower than the usual masts placed at the bottom of the water.

And the craze for this high-tech buoy has not stopped Akracé from developing it:

“We had the opportunity to strengthen our offer in the oceanographic aspect with an additional portion of local content provided by the firm Énergie de La Lune”

Marine Colin, Project Manager at Akracé.

Wind market

If the Guérande company is on the rise, it is also due to the deployment of offshore wind farms all over the world.

In order to clearly identify areas suitable for these deployments, or even choose precisely where to install each pylon, measurement captures are essential.

Bird tracking

Since 2022 and the numerous debates around the degradation of fauna and flora by offshore wind farms, the company has also installed a buoy capable of track and measure the movements of birds. A world first.
